Kevin Russell, Repeat Client at Banquet, Wins Best Americana Band again for 2017

So much news to share! My 2016 CD release, Country Swing has been well received and nicely reviewed in Country Music Magazine and by bluegrass journalist, Joe Falletta. This all acoustic project, featuring bluegrass heavy-weights Rob Ickes, Blaine Sprouse and Jim Hurst is a celebration of one of America’s most original roots music forms, Western Swing. The success of this CD has led to the creation of a west coast, Bob Wills-inspired band, The Western Swing Caravan. This band features bluegrass super star Blaine Sprouse on fiddle and Hall of Fame pedal steel guitar titan, Bobby Black. The band made its debut at the Sebastopol Peacetown Music Series and recently entertained at the Sonoma County Fair, as well as The Gravenstein Apple Fair.

My other group, The Rhythm Rangers, recently won the Bohemian Norbay award for Best Americana Band for 2017! This band plays Americana (rock, blues, swing), features many well known icons of the Sonoma county music scene, and also won this award in 2016.

What’s in the future? I also book music for The Sebastopol Guitar Festival and for the Sonoma County Folk & Bluegrass Festival held in mid-March. Get on my email list to be alerted to these shows, band shows coming up and shows I produce featuring other touring artists.

Lastly, we’re hoping later this year to get the Western Swing Caravan into the studio for their debut CD. And after completing five enormously satisfying projects at The Banquet I can say without hesitation, this is the best studio in all of Sonoma county! The staff –Warren, Darryl and Shanin- are each masterful at their craft, thoroughly professional, they are superb at getting the sonic & tonal quality needed and the setting is…well, beautiful.
